TEA-TIME with… Francesca FORCOLINI

Francesca FORCOLINI, English, lives in London

Director / Designer of Labour of Love - Fashion and accessories.

About

Francesca Forcolini is a very nice woman whose sensitivy is spread in everything she’s involved in, from her family to her own label, Labour of Love. As her clothes collections, she “voit la vie en rose” on the positive and the funny side. She welcomes us in her beautiful Dulwich nest in South east London (if you want to get inspired by her home, take a look on this gallery).

Describe a perfect day in London for you.

Usually I go with my partner on a little cultural trip around Central London. A typical one is to go to Oxford Circus, starting with “Photographers Gallery” with its fantastic Bookshop. Then we move to The Algerian Coffee Stores to get some full-flavored coffee. Our trip usually includes a stop in Dover Street Market to get in touch with young designers, without forgetting to go to our favourite newsagent in Wardour Street.

We walk around in this area in an organic way, looking to feel inspired and visually enriched.

Can you name a few of your favorite British lifestyle brands?

Not that easy to answer… Actually, places come to my mind better than brands!

I would say…

– Dover Street Market for fashion Maltby Street Market with its amazing array of food-producer artisans

– Lassco Ropewalk with well known for its architectural salvage.

– The Clove Club in Shoreditch is also a nice supper club to have dinner.

What and where do you like to shop when you are in France?

I tend to come back with various candles.

To shop in Astier de Villate for home Fragrances and products.

To go to Comme des Garçons to pick up some ideas and accessories and to Colette for music

We also bring back a cute glow-in-the-dark little thing for our kids.

I also really enjoy Chantecaille for its beauty products.

Anything in London you find particularly inspiring?

The street style is really inspiring….

Your favorite place to be creative in London?

My best place to be creative is my home.

The editorial team agree ! Franscesca warmly welcomed us in her very quiet and inspiring home taking part from her italian origins to cook nice pastas

I also feel inspired during journeys in trains. It’s a good feeling and sensation to be both static and in motion at the same time.

An emerging trend you are feeling ?

The experience is predominant. People want to build memory with living things better than possessing them. They take care of their environment.

Now we could say they spend money in life, better than to buy goods.

Last but not least….

Draw something which could embody / represent you or your current mood ?
